Wrist Guards for Inline & Roller Skating
Are Wrist Guards Necessary for Skating?
Known as wrist protectors, wrist guards are crucial for every inline and roller skater's kit. Skating wrist guards are crafted to avert injuries during forward falls onto the hands, making them highly advisable for beginners and seasoned skaters alike.
Which Size of Wrist Guards Should I Choose?
Ensure that your wrist guards fit securely over your hand and wrists. If they are too loose, they might slip while you skate; too tight, they could impede blood flow. When selecting new wrist guards for skating, always consult the product's sizing chart. Typically, measure your widest hand circumference around the knuckles, omitting the thumb, and your wrist circumference.
Proper Way to Wear a Wrist Guard
For the correct application of skating wrist guards, first identify the hard plastic piece known as the splint. Unfasten the wrist guard so the splint side is facing the ground. Insert your hand by guiding your thumb through the side opening. Once positioned, fasten the wrist guard with the Velcro straps. The splint should align with your arm for an ideal fit.
Alternatively, consider race gloves, which offer greater breathability and flexibility, though they do not provide the same level of protection as traditional wrist guards for skating.
