Ski Jackets
Choosing the Right Ski Jacket
Different ski jackets offer unique designs and features. Here are the three primary categories you should consider along with what they offer.
Hard Shell Jackets
Favoured by both skiers and snowboarders, hard shell jackets are extremely waterproof, windproof, and lightweight thanks to their single-layer design. These jackets lack insulation, so a mid-layer can be added for extra warmth. They are also suitable as rain jackets for everyday use.
Insulated Jackets
Insulated jackets resemble hard shells but include an inner insulation layer. Ideal for low temperatures or those prone to feeling cold, these jackets are less breathable and can become quite warm in milder weather.
Soft Shell Jackets
Among the three, soft shell jackets offer the most breathability. They are crafted from soft, stretchy materials that let air and moisture pass through. While they provide limited wind and water resistance, additional layers are necessary in colder climates. These jackets can also serve as a mid layer beneath a hard shell.
