Skateboard Deck Rails
Purpose of Skateboard Deck Rails
Plastic strips known as skateboard deck rails attach beneath your deck to enhance sliding proficiency. The plastic aids in producing a smoother slide and simplifies the execution of various tricks, enabling skating on surfaces previously unfit for such activities. If boardslides and lipslides are challenging, deck rails can significantly improve your learning curve.
Besides refining your skating skills, deck rails offer additional benefits. They protect your deck, facilitate grabbing your board, and preserve its graphics.
Steps for Installing Skate Deck Rails
Adding new rails to your skateboard deck is generally simple, needing only a screwdriver or power drill. Prior to installation, determine the rails’ positioning, typically advised to be set 1-1.5 inches from the deck’s edge.
Once positioned, align the rails parallel to each other and the deck edge meticulously. Securely fasten each screw provided with the rails, ensuring no protrusion; a power drill simplifies this task, but a regular screwdriver is also adequate.
To ensure the longevity of your rails, it's advisable to periodically tighten the screws. This is because screws may loosen, and the plastic material can wear down over consistent use.
