Top Caps
Enhance Your BMX Performance with a Quality Top Cap
Often overlooked, the BMX top cap is the screw located at the summit of your fork, just above the headset. This small yet vital component plays a crucial role. It compresses your fork and stem against the headtube of your frame and keeps your headset properly aligned for smooth handlebar rotations.
Top caps are known by various names: BMX compression bolt, compression cap, or BMX fork bolt. Despite the different names, they all refer to the same part and can be used interchangeably. Typically crafted from aluminium, BMX top caps are designed to keep extra weight off your bike.
It's essential to ensure that each top cap is compatible with your fork, with the thread size being of utmost importance. You can find this information in our product descriptions and specifications section.
Guide to Installing and Removing Top Caps
Both installing and removing a top cap are fairly simple tasks. To replace an existing cap, first loosen the stem bolts with a 6 or 8 mm Allen key. After doing so, you can unscrew the old top cap using the correctly-sized Allen key and replace it with the new one. Make sure the cap is fastened securely to ensure a robust setup.
