Complete Cruiser Skateboards
Speedy and Agile: Complete Cruiser Skateboards
Cruiser skateboards, also referred to as mini longboard cruisers and retro skateboards, are compact and convenient boards designed for an enjoyable cruising experience.
Similar to longboards in riding feel, cruiser boards typically have shorter decks and smaller wheels, offering agility and responsiveness. This makes them perfect for navigating city streets or for commuting to work or school.
There are generally two types available: wooden cruiser boards and plastic cruiser boards. For those interested in a plastic option, explore our Penny Boards & Plastic Cruiser Skateboards selection.
Comparing Cruiser and Regular Skateboards
Cruiser skateboards blend the features of skateboards and longboards, yet generally maintain a similar size to regular skateboards. Their design often draws inspiration from the vintage skateboard styles of the 1970s.
While you may encounter a classic retro board with a flat deck, cruiser board decks usually come with either a kicktail or double-kicktail, akin to skateboard decks. Most cruiser decks have a directional shape, unlike standard skateboards. Cruiser boards also feature larger and taller trucks than typical skateboards.
The wheels on cruiser boards are typically larger and softer, allowing for excellent grip, speed, and a smooth ride. Additionally, their bushings offer high flexibility, making them easier to turn and manoeuvre than skateboards.
Can You Perform Tricks on Cruiser Skateboards?
Cruiser boards are crafted for urban travel and surf-style cruising. Performing simple tricks on cruiser skateboards is possible, especially with those shaped more like skateboards. A kicktail design provides an advantage for tricks such as the ollie.
However, due to the heavier build and larger wheels of cruisers, executing tricks can be challenging. The weight makes flipping the board and gaining elevation more difficult, resulting in less air-time and slower reaction from the board.
