Although easily overlooked, these components are vital for the proper function of your setup. Regular checks of your skate hardware are essential; ensure that all nuts and bolts are tightened firmly. They naturally loosen over time, which can lead to side-to-side movement of your board, affecting your stability.

Determining the Right Size for Skateboard Bolts

Selecting the appropriate size for your skateboard hardware is crucial. The bolts should extend through both the deck and the truck's baseplate, protruding enough to affix the locknut securely. Oversized hardware may be challenging to tighten and can interfere when grinding. Conversely, undersized hardware risks detaching easily. Typically, regular skate setups use bolt lengths ranging from ⅞ of an inch to 1 inch. For riser pads exceeding ⅛ of an inch, longer hardware might be necessary.

Are Skateboard Hardware Pieces Interchangeable?

Various brands offer skateboard nuts and bolts, often compatible with any board. Hardware usually features either a Phillips head or an Allen-head design, though this detail does not affect performance and is based on personal preference.
