BMX Seats
Varieties of Freestyle BMX Seats
Crafted to be compact and endure impact, BMX seats often have an upward angle and sit low, facilitating the ability to secure the saddle between the thighs while executing tricks. There are four primary types of BMX seats: pivotal, tripod, railed, and combo.
Pivotal BMX seats are secured by a single bolt that penetrates the top, and the seat angle can be adjusted to suit your liking. On the other hand, tripod BMX seats are fastened at the bottom, preventing any angle adjustments.
Combo seats, also referred to as integrated seats, are those affixed to the seat post, forming a single entity, and hence cannot be disassembled. Railed BMX seats, often called "micro-adjust seatposts," come with a pair of rails beneath the saddle, offering excellent stability for the rider.
Reasons for the Hardness of Race BMX Seats
Race BMX seats are built tough because they aren't intended for frequent sitting. They are slim, lightweight, and typically constructed from plastic to minimize the bike's weight. During BMX racing, cyclists usually stand while pedaling, thus eliminating the need for a soft, thick leather seat. A key reason these hard seats persist is to shield the rider’s rear when landing from a significant jump.
