BMX Tubes
Replacing Your BMX Tubes
Located inside the tires, BMX tubes are essential components of the wheel responsible for holding air. Constructed from various types of durable rubber, they feature tire valves for inflation, such as either a Presta or Schrader valve.
Given the demands of BMX riding, inner tubes will eventually need replacement. Whether you're into freestyle or racing, it is clear that both styles involve high impacts and repeated pressure, inevitably causing punctures of varying sizes over time. Smaller punctures can be addressed with a repair patch kit, but persistent air pressure loss indicates it's time to purchase a new tube. For information on the proper installation of your inner tube, have a look at our brief video on How to Install BMX Tires and Inner Tubes.
Which Size of BMX Tube Do I Require?
In essence, your BMX tube's size should correspond with your BMX tire's dimensions in both diameter and width. A 20-inch tire diameter is the most prevalent, thus a 20-inch BMX tube would be suitable. Width for inner tubes is presented as a range, such as 1.70 - 2.5 inches. Your tire's width should fall within this range, but a slight deviation on either side should still be compatible.
As you swap out your BMX tubes, it's advisable to inspect your tire's current state. With time, they may lose traction or become more prone to punctures. If you are considering acquiring new tires, feel free to explore our selection - BMX Tires.
