Installing Griptape on a Skateboard
Many skaters handle the installation of griptape on their own boards. It can be quite challenging for beginners and needs a bit of patience. This tutorial outlines the process of applying griptape on a skateboard, broken down into three straightforward steps.
THE 3 ESSENTIAL STEPS FOR GRIPTAPE INSTALLATION
Tools required: A knife and a skate tool (or a small metal device)
1. Begin by peeling off the protective backing from the griptape, placing its adhesive side directly onto the top of the skateboard deck. Press the griptape firmly from the middle outward towards the edges. Use the protective backing to smooth out any air bubbles.
2. To guide your cut lines, lightly score the deck's perimeter with a tool. Carefully lift and trim away any overhanging griptape from the sides at approximately a 45° angle along the score marks.
3. For a neater edge, use the leftover griptape to sand the sides of the board.
