How to Mount a BMX Brake
This guide will walk you through the process of mounting a BMX brake on a BMX bike. Follow the text and images step by step.
1. Insert the long cable into the brake lever.
2. Align all three openings by turning the cable tightener. Then, insert the cable into the cable tightener.
3. Close the cable tightener.
4. Position the end of the cable into the cable carriers underneath the frame, directing it towards the rear of the bike.
5. The setup should appear like this underneath the frame.
6. Attach the short cable to the top of the brake arm.
7. Route the cable around the seat post tube.
8. Attach the end of the short cable to the lower brake arm. Ensure the cable passes through the small hole in the bolt mounted on the brake arm.
9. Tighten the bolt on the brake arm with a 10mm spanner, ensuring the final setup resembles the brake in the picture below.
10. Attach the cable connector to the end of the long cable.
11. Tighten the cable and secure the bolt on the cable connector with a 10mm spanner.
12. Adjust the brake pads so they sit correctly on the edge of the rim.
13. Trim any excess cable to the appropriate length.
14. Attach the cable ends to the cables and secure them with pliers.
