DIY: Bleach Tie-Dye - Make Your Own Acid Wash Shirt
We all agree that old school never goes out of style, so it's hard to say no to those classic acid-washed t-shirts. The great news is, you can create one yourself using your favourite SkatePro t-shirt.
We have jazzed up our SkatePro t-shirts for the festival vibe, and it turned out so great that we decided to make a DIY video. Have a look and go wild! The results are absolutely amazing, and you’re sure to be the focus of attention (or at least among your friends).
Here's what you'll need: bleach, rubber gloves, rubber bands, a bucket for rinsing afterward, and plastic bags to protect your ‘workspace’.
Witness the transformation in 5 simple steps:
1. Prepare your area - shield the surface using plastic bags for the bleaching process. Wear gloves to protect your skin from acid burns, and you’re all set.
2. Shape your t-shirt in the pattern you want (check out our video for tips) and secure it with rubber bands.
3. Apply bleach over the areas where your t-shirt is twisted into a pattern, and use extra bleach for smaller details.
4. Let it sit for 60 minutes, then rinse in a bucket of water until the water runs clear.
5. Allow it to dry! Your acid-wash SkatePro t-shirt is now set to impress.
NB! Remember to wash it separately the first time to prevent bleaching the rest of your wardrobe. Lastly, if you want to give this a go, make sure to do it outside to let the fumes dissipate.
