Waveboards / Caster Boards
Waveboards Designed for Street Surfing
Waveboards, often referred to as caster boards, wave skates, or vigour boards, are designed to offer distinct street surfing adventures. Their unique shape and features set them apart from other boards such as skateboards and longboards.
Waveboards provide an exhilarating, surf-like ride, making them a standout option in the skate scene. With a waveboard, you can enjoy cruising, carving, or even perform tricks.
Waveboard Features
A hallmark of caster boards is their unconventional deck design; they lack a single deck layout. Instead, a waveboard features two narrow deck plates joined by a torsion bar, typically made of steel, which is essential for the board’s movement.
Waveboards differ by having just two wheels—one at the front and one at the back. These wheels rotate 360° due to their attachment to casters rather than trucks. Additionally, waveboard wheels are generally 76-78 mm in diameter and softer than those on a skateboard. The two-wheel design, especially with softer wheels, leads to quicker wear.
Is a Caster Board Right for You?
People of all ages can enjoy wave skates, making them a good choice for those seeking a new riding experience. Your balance and mobility will influence your ease in learning to ride a waveboard. If you’ve previously used a skateboard or longboard, picking up waveboarding might be simpler.
You should comfortably place your feet on the dual deck plates. Selecting the correct size waveboard is crucial since balance alone isn’t enough. Also, check the weight capacity of each board, as it varies between models.
