Off-Road Skating
Off-Road Skating Blends Sport and the Outdoors
Also known as dirt skating, off-road skating is a style of inline skating performed in natural settings like dirt pathways, mountain trails, and forest routes. The uneven, rugged terrain makes off-road inline skating impractical with standard fitness skates, which feature smaller wheels and bearings not designed for such tracks.
To truly navigate forest trails and immerse yourself in the wild irrespective of terrain and weather, you'll need durable off-road skates with large, air-filled tires. This activity is particularly suitable for skaters who are experienced, possess solid balance, are accustomed to uneven surfaces, and relish spending time in the wilderness.
Varieties of Off-Road Inline Skating
Two primary styles define off-road skating: downhill and cross-country. Cross-country skating merges elements of Nordic walking, roller skiing, and inline skating, utilizing two poles to assist on challenging terrain. This style employs two-wheeled setups akin to roller skiing.
Downhill off-road skating is typically carried out in more undulating regions, allowing skaters to glide down grassy or dirt-covered slopes in any weather, even slight snow. It is advised to avoid descending overly steep hills to prevent injuries. This downhill style generally involves three-wheeled skates and does not use poles.
