WD-40

WD-40 is a renowned multi-purpose spray with extensive applications. It's effective for dirt removal, extracting jammed screws and bolts, and easing stuck zippers, among numerous other household tasks.

The origin of the name "WD-40" traces back to Norman Larsen, who developed the spray in 1953. "Water Displacement, 40th formula" reflects both its core attribute and the 40 iterations Norman underwent to achieve the ultimate formula.

As the founder of the Rocket Chemical Company, Norman's motivation for creating WD-40 was to prevent rust and corrosion on the Atlas missile's thin balloon tanks in storage. Over the years, its versatility for household applications became evident, leading to its public release in 1958.
