Though EVOC officially began in 2008, its story traces back to 1999 when freerider and product designer Holger Feist injured his back in an avalanche incident in Austria. The concept of a backpack with a back protector emerged that day, and after years of cycling and skiing globally, Holger realized significant improvements could be made in the ergonomics of backpacks and bike packs.
