Purchasing a Scooter Deck
The deck is the platform you stand on while scootering.
Swapping the deck on a scooter is comparable to changing the frame of a bike; you must replace all components and ensure they fit on the new deck. Therefore, verify your fork, headset, peg, and wheel before making an upgrade.
The diagram below illustrates the various parts of a deck:
Most decks are constructed from aluminium. Brakes and axles are generally included unless noted otherwise.
Suggestions for Selecting Decks:
- While lightweight decks are preferable for performing tricks due to their ease of use, they are not as durable as heavier decks.
- Heavier decks offer greater longevity but turn more slowly during tricks.
- To prolong the life of your deck, ensure your tricks are landed evenly.
- Due to varied designs, not all pegs will be compatible with all decks.
- Forks vary in length; a fork that is too short may not reach into systems like SCS, ICS, or HIC.
- The headtube angle determines the extent to which the bar angles toward you.
- You can change griptape as often as you wish, but do remember to clean the deck before applying it.
- Integrated headtubes are compatible only with integrated headsets.
