Surfskate Bearings
Glide on the Streets Seamlessly With Surfskate Bearings
For an effortlessly smooth ride on your surfskate, quality bearings are essential. Bearings are commonly rated using the ABEC scale, evaluating them for precision and accuracy. This scale ranges from 1 to 9, with a higher number indicating increased precision levels. Typical materials used for bearings are steel or ceramics.
What's the Best Way to Clean Surfskate Bearings?
Start by using your skate tool to take off the wheels from the trucks and then extract the bearings from the wheels. Next, remove the rubber shields with a sharp instrument such as a knife.
Place the bearings into either a jar or a dedicated bearing cleaner filled with an alcohol or acetone solution. Agitate the jar for about 10 seconds, or until the liquid becomes murky. Once done, take out the bearings and allow them to dry. To ensure cleanliness, give them a spin. Do they turn smoothly? Then, apply some bearing oil to lubricate them. You’re ready to reassemble your setup and hit the streets.
